Title :  A Guide to High School Redirection
Release Year :  1991
Abstract :  High School Redirection was founded in 1968 in response to a felt need. Large numbers of students, and particularly minority students, were dropping out of New York City high schools. In some cases, the dropping out was in response to personal and family needs, but in too many cases, students were "push outs" -- those for whom the system no longer had patience for. Redirection was and is committed to working with any student who drops out of school for any reason. It provides them with the individual attention they did not receive at large city high schools, a more informal atmosphere, and concepts such as family groups within the school. This commitment is to give every student a second chance.
